Introduction
Space. It's cold, it's dark, and it goes on forever. There is an infinite number of points in the space between here and there. At each point there awaits untold dangers and unforseable peril. Few men dare to brave this great emptiness alone. Our good captain is one of them and no amount of space will keep him from the adventure that lies ahead.
Characters
The Captain
Optimistic and mildly arrogant, the captain was a member of the United Interplanetary Marines’ 32nd Infantry until his battalion was decimated at the hands of rabid space monkeys. After leaving the military, he tried working at a chain hardware store before realizing that the private sector was far too boring. Always the adventurer, he decided that his skills would be better utilized in a more exciting and dangerous profession. He purchased a used space ship from a police auction and began to hire out his services as a “locator and acquirer”. Before long, through no fault of his own, the captain gained a reputation as a notorious space pirate feared through out the galaxy.
Steve
The captain’s second-in-command / babysitter comes in the form of a small, silver, floating ball. Steve’s A.I. started life as a customer service representative for a popular home appliance vendor. Years of dealing with intellectually challenged customers shaped him into a sarcastic, condescending assistant. When his employer went bankrupt due to lawsuits regarding antitrust accusations, the A.I. was purchased by a robotics hobbyist and transplanted into a state-of-the-art anti-gravity casing. That was seventeen years ago. More recently, Steve has found his way onto his captain’s crew where he acts as co-pilot, advisor, systems analyst and conscience.
The Crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Under the command of Captain Arthur Anderson, the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald has been shipping freight around the Superior quadrant for several decades. They have an excellent track record, having successfully transported literally thousands of shipments. Recent reports of space piracy have caused the Fitzgerald to hire on additional hands and upgrade their armaments. Unfortunately, a squabble with a small band of maurauders near the Wisconsin sector has left the ship without her gunships.
